The dedication works from several angles:

Transition from the science fiction books
I’ve written two science fiction books, FLIGHTSUIT and FLIGHTPACK. Referring to children as “tiny aliens” connects the picture book with those.

Few adults interact with children in a way that reflects their position as the future decision-makers.

 

“I was on your side all along”
 

Following the ominous suggestion of a “take over”, I like the way this last makes an appeal for mercy on my behalf. Our children will write the histories of our life. This also is a play on my own tendency to relate to the world as a younger person.
